Comissioned by BBC studios and directed by film-makers Steve McQueen &James Rogan. Uprising documents the devastating events and sociopolitical aftermath of a house fire that leaves 13 black teens dead. The aim was primarily to help explain the process the fire investigation team went through as they examined the evidence and formed a judgement for the enquiry. Additionally there was a secondary requirement to display stills, locations and archive newspapers in a sympathtic style. The approach used notebooks as the container for all the investigation and developments described by the fire investigation team in voice over. Colours were restricted to use only pencil, a red pen and yellow highlighter. The shots were given a slightly degraded quaility to make them appear weathered.
